Mini Oshun Goddess of Love, Beauty and Marriage
An Orisha is a spirit that reflects one of the manifestations of God in Africas Yoruba religion. Many Orishas have found their way throughout the Americas via the Atlantic slave trade and are now expressed in practices as varied as Santeria, Candomble, Trinidad Orisha, and Oyotunji.
Oshun is the Orishas of the fresh waters, the goddess of the river that shares her same name. She brings prosperity and fertility to her worshippers, she especially watches over the poor and the sick, as she is said to heal the sick with the power of water. Oshun is also the Orishas of love, she is often represented as a beautiful young woman or mermaid. With the African diaspora, Shun was brought to the Americas and adopted into the Cuban, Brazilian and Haitian religious belief systems.
