*Danu - Mother of Tuatha De Danann
Danu was the matriarch goddess of all Celtic gods and the namesake of the Tuatha De Danann. Danu herself did not appear in Celtic or Irish legends, she was only known through her association with Tuatha De Danann or the people of the goddess Danu. It constitutes a pantheon whose attributes appeared in a number of forms throughout the Celtic world. Danu is an ancient deity with a blank slate background possibly due to the word of mouth recording method of her time, thus in modern times we often find traces of other Celtic or earthly goddesses within her. The triple goddess or Brigid are often associated with Danu for this reason.
