Ellugua God of Travelers, Crossroads and Fortune
An Orisha is a spirit that reflects one of the manifestations of God in Africas Yoruba religion. Many Orishas have found their way throughout the Americas via the Atlantic slave trade and are now expressed in practices as varied as Santeria, Candomble, Trinidad Orisha, and Oyotunji.
Ellugua is a popular Orisha of the Yoruba people. He is a trickster that holds the power over luck and misfortune. He uses this power to afflict people with temptation and difficulties in order for them too mature. He is also the god of the roads and the protector of travelers. He is identified with Saint Anthony of Padua and Saint Michael.
